The Hawk-Mo Hotwire

Micro Entrepreneurism, Simple Living & Art

after dinner discussion

As is so often the case, I found myself pondering the state of the world. Not in the larger, full universe scale, but in a much smaller scale that I can begin to wrap my head around and wax on about (semi)intelligently.

Its so very easy to get stuck in a viscious cycle. The whole world seems to be stuck in one. The larger infrastructure wants us all to feel like we are stuck in one too. If we’re stuck in the cycle we are safe. There is no risk in being one of many, the risk comes from making a decision. Any decision that isn’t the same one everyone else would make. Too often we get rewarded for following the herd. Following can be the right decision, or even a good decision, but it should be thought about on a person by person basis. I want it to be right for me, because of me, and my context, NOT because of the “everyone else” feature. I struggle to not let that turn me away entirely, but the cold truth is that somewhere, somehow, we are all following something and/or someone. The best we can do, and that we should do, is to follow with our heads held high, knowing we did it for ourselves.

I’m not sure I’m being very clear.

Back to the viscious cycle… We must see it to see around it. We must want to change in order to change it. And we must believe. Not blindly… but logically, intelligently, analytically. Be unafraid to imagine the solution, even if it isn’t the one you thought it would be.
