the unexpected gift of recognition

“The issues that arise in the creative practice are the same kinds of issues that arise in a spiritual practice. You get to look at your insecurity. You get to look at your inquisitiveness. You get to look at your fantasy that a satisfied desire will lead to satisfaction. As near as I can tell, this is what happens with a grounded meditation technique: you go through all of the shenanigans of the restless nature of the mind and what you are left with is, just be. Out of being, things are made. So creativity is the act of being.” – Julia Cameron, author of The Artist’s Way

I encountered these words tonight, and I keep re-reading them. And rewriting them. And repeating them.

Obviously, I was inspired to share them with you. Perhaps they will spark something within you as well.

Tomorrow I begin in earnest the search to find my creativity again.

Awesome. Thanks for the spark that you so generously share so often. I’m gonna swim in this one for a while.

Oh yeah, and get down with your bad, sledding self.

Swim, swim, swim. I got up this morning and wrote 3 pages. And I’m already feeling a little pump of energy today. It’s kinda tantalizing and teasing – like I know there is more where it came from, its just a matter of continually seeking it out.

More sledding today!! How cool it would be if you and the munchkins were here to make it full on crazy.
