Road Trip Lessons Learned

Just back from a whirlwind 24 hour roadie to Columbus, OH for a Devil Makes Three show, I thought of a few things to add to my mental roadie packing list. Lots of things are a given, this list is more of the things you wouldn’t necessarily think of, but come in quite handy.

The most recent addition:
#29 A Sharpie marker and a pad of paper (never know when you might need to make a sign, communicate between cars, or leave a thank you note behind for new & old friends)

From other adventures:
#1 A bathing suit (NEVER leave home without it, even if you don’t think there is any possibility of going swimming, cuz every time I do I end up missing out on something fun or swimming in my clothes)
#2 Water bottle/sippy cup
#3 Cell phone charger
#4 Deck o’ cards or two or three
#5 Chocolate
#6 Toilet paper
#7 Clean towel
#8 Tool kit
#9 Duct Tape
#10 Line
#11 Bungees
#12 Q tips
#13 First Aid Kit

You guys got anything to add?

how was the show? Saw them in SF (they’re east coast transplants now in Santa Cruz area, I believe) several years ago and they were awesome. And, yes, always bring a suit. Or go in your birthday suit! 🙂

The show was spectacular, but short. It was a worthy adventure, but when I do the math of driving 13 hours for an 1.5 hour show, I’m kinda bummed.
